Athirapally is the land of rivers and forests and stunning waterfalls! The destination houses the largest waterfall in Kerala, known as the Niagara Falls of India. This patch in Sholayar ranges so beautifully intertwined with lush green forest cover and sizzling silver cascades and located central to Cochin and River Nila(Bharathapuzha), is a treat for the eyes during the monsoon. Swollen Chalakkudy river, Charpa, Vazhachal and Athirapally are ideal places to visit. It is a critical habitat of many important species, including the rare Cochin Forest Cane Turtle, the endangered Great Indian Hornbill, the Lion-Tailed Macaque and the Nilgiri Langur.

Popularly also known as the Niagara Falls of India Athirapally falls flows through the verdant greenery of Vazhachal Forest toward the Arabian Sea, creating a spectacular vista of scintillating water, emerald jungles and azure sky. Bird lovers cannot miss this place, for it is the only place in the Western Ghats where four endangered Hornbill species are seen.
